Recommended by Time Out and London is funny this comedy night is gaining a great reputation on the circuit. This months line up: Rich Fulcher, Gareth Morinan (Edinburgh preview), Dane Baptiste, Toby Muresianu, Michelle de Swarte, Stream of Piffle and MC Katerina Vrana
Stream of Piffle
Stream of Piffle welcome you to a dark and strange world not unlike our own where dictators say sorry on daytime TV, Disney offer up their unique solution to Middle Eastern problems, Coca Cola get more than they bargained for and a restraining order proves no boundary to true love. Razor sharp satire and character comedy walking a tight rope between social comment and pure bad taste, Taking the Piff will make you laugh and wince in equal measure.
Since starting in 2008, Gareth has established himself as one of the most creative rising stars of the comedy circuit; utilising his passions for drawing and analysis to create a live show that is unique and innovative. "Showed a strange, creative streak in his writing that's very appealing" - Steve Bennett, Chortle, 2008 In 2011 he had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, where his show 'The Truth (explained in doodles!)' received critical acclaim: "An extremely enjoyable and original piece of comedy" (4 stars) - Three Weeks "Clever, funny and original, Gareth Morinan is going places - see him now." (4 stars) - The Skinny Gareth is currently working on his first solo hour, which he plans to take to festivals in 2012. Gareth is also an experienced improviser, and has recently founded 'The Wilmington Players', one of the only groups in the UK to perform Chicago style long-form improv. Also he will soon be appearing alongside Warwick Davis on BBC and HBO, having been cast by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for a role in their new sitcom "Life's Too Short". He will also be appearing in the attached BBC documentary "Short Work", which followed Gareth's trip to the Edinburgh Festival. Toby Muresianu’s smart but irreverent sense of humor has helped him tour across 10 different countries, including South Africa, Israel, France and Slovakia. A former engineer who started comedy while studying computer science and psychology, he offers sharp insights into politics, modern life, and other topics while never taking himself too seriously. He has appeared on NBC and on Sirius and XM Satellite Radio, as well as at the Boston Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on Comedy Central Live shows. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
She's an actress (TV series in Greece, stage productions in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, short films in both Greece and the UK) who found her way into improvisation (with the groups Improvsters and Improvedy) and sketch comedy (sketch show Dystopia, founding member of sketch groups Big Frizz and Blind Design).
Since 2009 she has been doing stand-up comedy. Finalist - Funny Women Awards 2009
Katerina is an energetic and enthusiastic performer, with an intelligent, quick-witted style.
She ran and MC'd mixed bill comedy shows in Edinburgh in 2009 and 2010. She currently runs and MCs two weekly comedy nights in central London - Rudy's Comedy Night and Angel Comedy - and gigs all over the UK. Her upcoming gigs are listed here.
In November 2011 she went to L.A. to perform, and followed that up with her debut solo Greek show (which was her first time doing stand-up in Greek) in Athens, Greece. Due to demand, Katerina performed it again in Athens, in March 2012.
