Tir na nOg
Tir na nOg have been described as Alt Folk, Prog Folk, Psych Folk, and even Space Folk!. But the duo, formed by Leo O'Kelly & Sonny Condell in 1970, transcends all these categories. What is not in doubt is that they are two of the most original and influential songwriters and performers Ireland has ever produced. After a long absence they are once again touring in the UK.
They were signed to Chrysalis Records in May '70 within days of arriving in London, suitcases and guitars in hand! Tir na nOg recorded three timeless albums for the label, recently re-issued by Cherry Red/Esoteric Records. John Peel championed the duo from the start, recording many Peel Sessions with them. They toured with bands as disparate as Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, The Who, Roxy Music and Steeleye Span in the 70s, as well as headlining their own theatre, college and club gigs, garnering a large cult following, which to this day still grows.
The duo's reputation for entrancing audiences with their magical live performances, whether festival or club, goes before them, resulting in sell-out shows during 2012. Sonny and Leo have recently recorded some new songs for the highly anticipated album, to be released in 2013.
SWORD IN AIR is an acoustic singer-songwriter based in Manchester, England.
In 2012, after just a couple of months honing his live set and, in the process, developing a distinctive sound, Michael Boyd quickly became an established solo acoustic artist known to all around the Manchester circuit as Sword In Air. With his angelic voice and intricate guitar work he has been compared to the late Jeff Buckley, while his onstage look and persona have placed him alongside the new age of singer-songwriters, of the likes of Ed Sheeran and Jake Bugg.
Michael spent January 2013 recording and producing a self-titled four-track EP in his bedroom. The following few months were spent promoting the EP through first a local and then a national tour, on which he supported London legend Beans on Toast, Irish progfolk duo Tír na nÓg, and legendary 1980s punk film star Hazel O'Connor. The tour was a great success and Michael was very well received in all areas of the country, shifting nearly 100 demos in just a few weeks and generating a good deal of buzz. Alive and brimming with confidence, Michael begins another summer tour in June, where he’ll be playing a couple of national festival dates as well as providing support to Midlands indie rockers Get Cubs.
