Beguiling orchestral and lush, The Wishing Well create spellbinding sounds which produce a rich tapestry of mesmerizing folk, pop and rock. Originally hailing from Australia, the band now features an international group of troubadours that spans 3 continents (Australia, England, Hungary, Scotland, Spain and USA).
Since their formation five years ago, the band has toured tirelessly playing an impressive 1600 gigs on the international circuit. Career highlights include slots at the Queenscliff Music Festival (Aus), The Blue Balls Festival (Switzerland), The Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Skagenfest (Denmark) and Nibe Festival (Denmark), Galway Sessions (Ireland), Sankt Hans Festival (Denmark), Labadoux Festival (Belgium), Arts Festival of Far North Norway (Norway), Canterbury Arts Festival (England) Across The Tracks (England), Croperdy Folk Festival Fringe (England), Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (Northern Ireland), Neun Naumbuerger Naechte (Germany), Open Flair Festival (Germany), Geigenrock Festival (Germany) and Little Woodstock (Germany).
The Wishing Well has released two albums and has sold over 29,000 CDs independently. Lead singer Jai Larkan has previously supported artists such as Bob Geldof, Andy White, Liam O'Maonlai and Tim Finn and the band has shared the stage with David Gray, James Morrison, Seal and Joss Stone.
The songs are rich in textural depth, building gradually to dizzying heights only to momentarily pause and cascade into an orchestral crescendo. Awe- inspiring arrangements spun around magnificently poetic lyrics, a cacophony of three part harmonies, wistful violins, oceanic cello and majestic rhythms all melded to lead singer Jai Larkan's achingly strong and haunting vocals evokes an extraordinary gamut of emotions. In the melodic tradition of Ryan Adams, David Gray, Dave Matthews Band and The Waterboys, The Wishing Well's music appeals to lovers of emotive lyrics and melody. Their inspiring live performances captivate audiences and have created an enthusiastic and ever-growing worldwide fanbase.
Like true gypsies, the Band is nearly always on tour. 2013 marks The Wishing Well's fifth tour of the UK and Europe and the release of their third album.
Aden Asquith hails from Yorkshire and has been entertaining audiences in the UK and abroad with his quirky songs and rhythmic guitar style under his alter ego Folkdisco. 25 countries on, he is showcasing his original songs at the Half Moon. He has been compared to Beck, Bright Eyes and Ray Davies for his songwriting and his sound, but Folkdisco is a new style all of his own.
