BOB KERR'S WHOOPEE BAND

Bob Kerr served his apprenticeship in The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band (precursor to Monti Python) and The New Vaudeville band. It is that Python-esque surreal humour that Bob Kerr and his companions do so well – blink and you’ll miss something. With hilarious musical jokes, visual gags and 1920’s jazz on amphetamine, The Whoopee Band really are a rare treasure not to be missed.

Bob Kerr can claim to have started music at the Halfmoon, with his Whoopee Band packing the place every Wednesday in the sixties. When Bob first approached the then manager Charlie to see if the band could play, he said "I'll give you 4 weeks and if it don't work then you're out". He also added "no loud music either". Bob said they were a very quiet band and played 1920's music, little did he know...the rest, as they say, is history! The band played here until 1985, give or take the odd holiday and world tour, and returned in June, 2004.
